Journal prompt: What role does the Bible play in missions?

Before coming on this trip, I don’t think I would be able to answer this question. I didn’t understand most missionary movements, because I didn’t know how it aligned with Scripture. But, as we are studying God’s Word so much in this context, I can see the heart of God in Scripture, through the service we are doing. James talks about pure and undefiled religion being visiting the widows and caring for the orphans. I didn’t understand why in God’s Word it said that until going on this trip. As I visited widows and stared into faces that were beaten, cursed by this world and forgotten about, I see why God cares for them so much. God cares about those the world forgets about. He wants to bring holistic healing, salvation and transformation to those who are lost.
