Morristown Mission
Journal Prompt
What is a moment you want to remember from your trip to Morristown?
My Thoughts
One of the most impactful things on our trip to Morristown was the kind of fellowship and worship we were able to have together. We were welcomed into their church, worshiped in two different languages in a room of people who were from various different backgrounds and cultures. For many, there was the barrier of language, yet we were able to come together to share a meal and worship. I remember worshiping in Spanish and looking around the room at all of my friends, at the people I was still meeting, and others I hadn’t even learned their names yet, and we were all unified by one thing: We are all God’s kids that were made in his image. And that one thing was enough to unify such a diverse group. During worship, I was next to a man named Hector and after it was over, we had a long conversation…each speaking in the other’s base language the best we could. We got to talk about our backgrounds and share about our families. Throughout the weekend, I had several conversations that resulted in us giving hopes and prayers for each other. I was also blessed to stay in Josh and Judy’s House overnight where they offered us their hospitality by feeding us, talking and praying for us, and giving us a place to sleep. The most impactful time from that was over breakfast whenever Judy asked us how we were preparing our hearts for going to Africa. We got to share about the individual and communal prep we did leading up to the trip as well as the various challenges we had on boot camp that have been transforming our minds and hearts. Those times were really special and I am so thankful for the time of fellowship, worship, and testimony that we had.
