Ty - Update 8: Debrief Blog 2

What I learned from our East African friends this summer was the importance of slowing down and just taking time to connect with people. I'm the kind of person that just wants to go go go in most circumstances.This was very counter-cultural to a lot of our East African friends, but most prominently Quinn and Lydia voiced this to me. Though yes, making sure everything gets done, and done well is important, the trip would be virtually useless if we weren't also investing our time into the people we were with. I did poorly at this at the start and I'm glad the people around me weren't afraid to mirror that to me. It’s a lesson I will have to continue working on but luckily it is one I can do at home and really anywhere I go.
