New Thoughts on Hospitality

Journal Prompt: What have you learned about the value of hospitality from being in people’s homes this week?

My Thoughts

I grew up with parents who embodied incredible hospitality. I’m familiar with the in’s and out’s of much of it. However, I was unfamiliar with how to prepare a dinner for someone in their own home. This was a new and exciting thing to navigate. It required a lot of communication with the host, which felt awkward because I just wanted her to kick back and relax. This was a great reminder and teaching moment that in order to be served, it often takes work on the recipients part and that’s okay. Collaborating is imperative for healthy relationships.
