Journal prompt: What is one lesson I’ve learned from my East African friends that I will never forget?

Though there are many, a story that has made an impact on me is one I heard from two pastors. One named Jeremiah and the other named Raphael. They shared with me their lives and testimonies. They came from a spiritually dark past, growing up in tribes that were anti-Christian. They watched their communities destroy themselves and expressed how lost and dark their environment was. They expressed the impact this had on people’s lives, as it destroyed so many. The whole story is heavy, however what made the difference was their faith and God’s Word, as it was their light in such a dark world. Now, they travel to those communities as pastors/ministers. This impacted me by showing me the power of God’s Word in a new light, and how God can use your dark past to transform others' dark present. I want to be someone who has the kind of faith and devotion to God’s word and mission that transforms communities and lives and is confident that God will work all things for good.
