Melanie - Update 6: Empowerment

Journal prompt: Is empowerment easy? Why or why not?

Empowerment is hard work. It takes time, relationship-building, faith, and love. It’s an investment into a person. Empowerment is when a person can be lifted up and live in the reality that God intended for them, not the world. It’s also not a one-sided effort. The other person when empowered can come to the revelation of their true identity. It’s difficult to change feelings or beliefs that have been what’s in your mind for a long time. I’ve seen this even in the community that we had the honor to meet and serve in Eastern Uganda these past few days. The Scripture and education of the Word had brought so much healing to the people of Eastern Uganda as well as myself. We learned that we are God’s kids. Our identity is in the Lord, not our status, not by how much money we have, or by skin color. The list could go on, but we came to the truth that all of us have skills and gifts that God wants to use to bring his kingdom on Earth.
