Kiah - Update 3: SLAM Blog

This week has given me a greater perspective on this aspect of ministry with youth. SLAM is a program allowing youth to be inspired by God's Word, experience his presence all while getting hands-on service experience. Being my first time at SLAM without being a participant was cool because I got to see more closely the moving parts of each day's activities.

I got to be at service projects three out of the four days. Something I observed was that these kids have a heart to serve, but they lack the knowledge of how to. So my response was twofold: 1. I would become an example for them and encourage them through the discomfort of trying to step outside of comfort zones. 2. I'm so thankful they can learn about Jesus and his life alongside serving people in need. People want to feel seen and loved, and being someone who has been given much, I'm required to give more. I'm so thankful to have been able to practice Jesus’ love and give myself in service to others.
