Journal Prompt: What have you learned about the value of hospitality from being in people’s homes this week?

My Thoughts

I learned that hospitality is very important. As for Americans, we don’t value it the same as those in other countries.

Hospitality is very valued especially in the countries we are going to. The beginning of this week I stayed at a family’s home and while being there I was very moved by their hospitality. It was so wonderful being able to stay with them. We slept in their kids beds, use their showers, ate their food. They even led us in bible study and prayer in the morning.

Having the opportunity to do this, being in their home was ultimately humbling. Knowing that a lot of my things had to come from them. They made me their responsibility while being there. One thing I learned was to let the host be hospitable. Don’t shut them down.
