Giving is Greater

Journal Prompt: What is the one major lesson or thing that God is teaching you so far this week? How have you found yourself tested, and what has our response been like? Can you connect that to the Bible studies we’ve been having?

My Thoughts

I am seen by God and accepted by others. My presence, in obedience to God, is a blessing to others. It is and should be enough to sit in this and yet I continue to have to remind myself and battle my flesh in this. So many have told me how they are so thankful I am here.

This afternoon it was so great to be marked to lead in a simple task: 30 minutes to set up games. We didn’t achieve 100%, but it was ok. I also spoke up at breakout meeting with a good response. At brunch, another intern sought at my advice.

I am tested in small moments of unseen events like sitting by myself, but I have chosen to meditate on the way God has moved and people have responded. The next challenge for me is to take the next step and give myself more fully and freely, accepting that giving is even greater - I have received so much already.

The action of meditating is a new practice for me to embrace and comes from a lesson days ago. Considerations for being seen comes also from Genesis with God seeing to then begin creative work of forming and organizing. The next step of serving comes from John 4, the teaching that indicates that nourishment for bread of life comes by giving as well as intake.
