Mistake #3: Giving Money a Voice in the Matter

Moneys+voice+speaks

Over the years I’ve heard so many people say things like,“if I can get the money, then I know the Lord wants me to go on a mission trip.” I get how they think this sounds reasonable, but really… and this may sound extreme, but it’s not… it’s idolatrous! Why should money get a louder voice than God?

Didn’t Jesus say that we couldn’t serve two masters, and then named the two masters as God and money (Matthew 6:24). This means that like a boss who tells you what to do and where to go, so money wants to master you, but you have a choice.

You can choose to listen to God who said that in pursuit of his Kingdom with priority, and his righteousness, the things you need would be added to you (Matthew 6:33). So don’t let money be your master and if God is calling you to go on a mission with Jesus, then seek his Kingdom with priority and enact his righteousness and you’ll see God provide all you need!
