Journal prompt: How are you different after Summer Internship 2024? How have you changed? What people or experiences contributed? Are you happy about it?

A lesson I learned on this trip is that even if a responsibility or task feels too much or overwhelming, or I am afraid my teammates won’t support me, if I can do it, and may be the best candidate for it, then I should do it. Especially in a developing world context, it is no good to give the poor a good experience that could have been exceptional. I am a leader and I have been prepared for handling complex situations, so even if I think of excuses like “well it will be good for them to learn this.” No, If I know I could handle a situation and I am available, I should. It’s easier said than done though, especially when for that entire day I had already been dying to myself to lead our team or other things.
