A Lesson In Teamwork

Sunday’s activities introduced themes of teamwork - how to identify leadership, distribute roles, enact perseverance and flexibility, and employ encouragement in order to “win” no matter the circumstance. What did you learn about yourself from those exercises? Can you identify some roles that you are gifted in, when working on a team?

On Sunday, June 20th, The interns were placed on teams for volleyball games. They were encouraged to transform their concept of winning and focus on aspects of the game related to teamwork and team dynamic.

Reflection on Team Dynamic

Yesterday, we played volleyball and worked through the concept of teamwork. Our leaders encouraged us to think about various texts in the Bible and what it says about working with others. While playing volleyball, we did not get to pick our teams, therefore I was reminded of 1 Corinthians 13:14-26 in which the passage highlights this very thing.

As we played volleyball, our leaders encouraged us to play the roles that we had been given, but also to transform our understanding of winning. We considered the fact that winning is not about having the ultimate team or the best team, but that it was about our team dynamic as a whole.

Every activity has a purpose. The purpose of playing volleyball was multifaceted, however the emphasis was on teamwork.

When considering our team dynamic, I was reminded that if we can be people who face challenges with joy, endurance and encouragement, we are going to work as a team far better. Teamwork and team dynamics have always interested me; there is nothing better than working on a team that works flawlessly together. I am excited to continue Summer Internship and exploring the concept of teamwork.
