Bible Studies
By Maddie Sinnaeve
My prompt for this entry was our Bible teachings and studies that we have been able to hear. This topic is kind of intimidating for me because Mr. Garner has covered so, so much in his teachings. Summer Internship has been fully saturated with the Word and with learning. Hours of teaching backed by hours of praise and worship.
There was one time in particular in Africa that has really impacted me and stands out. It was during a bus ride to Entebbe that Mr. Garner opened up a Q&A time. A question about how we should respond to systemic issues, like poverty, was asked and the response was so Scripture-filled and founded, it was incredible.
Mr. Garner talked about how first we must develop compassion, then develop leadership skills, and finally develop our capacity and our labor-related skills. This answer was a beautiful blend of practicality, emotion, and biblical instruction and as a result was so encouraging and empowering to hear.
This is just one example from the time of teaching. I could talk about 20 more. In the end the times of teaching have been some of my most favorite moments of my whole summer. I will carry them with me as I continue to study the Bible and what it means for my life. I invite you to ask me to share more of these teaching times in person so that I might continue on in gratitude of this testimony.
